Liberty Classic Charity Golf Tournament Reaches Goal

Thanks to all our golfers, volunteers, and sponsors, this year's tournament raised $53,148 and the Liberty Classic has now donated a total of $520,989 to charity!

On Monday, August 29th, 2022 the 11th annual Liberty Classic took place in Edmonton at the Quarry Golf Club.

After missing a year due to COVID, then enduring +9C degrees and rain in 2021, our golfers and volunteers enjoyed sunny skies and warm temperatures once again.

The voice of the NHL’s Edmonton Oilers – Jack Michaels, kicked the day off announcing the Alarm.com $1,000,000 Shootout – which gave three golfers, one shot at winning a million dollars. Unfortunately none of them were able to hole their shot from 165 yards out (or even hit the green), but their disappointment was soon alleviated by the 11 different Food Trucks on the course serving everything from Empanadas to Butter Chicken Tacos (we also had our first taste of ‘smoked chocolate chip cookies’).

About our Charities:

The Edmonton Down Syndrome Society (EDSS) is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals born with Down syndrome. They provide opportunities and experiences for people with Down syndrome (Ds) to learn, grow and strive for their individual potential in their home, school and community life. By creating awareness about the unique abilities and potential that lies within each and every person born with Ds, our world becomes empowered with knowledge, compassion and inspiration. The EDSS has a special connection to Liberty founder Nate Baldry:

“As the father to Arthur, an amazing little guy who was born with down syndrome, it’s an honour to help support the EDSS and all they do for our community and those who have Down syndrome. All the charities we’ve given back to over the year each have a personal connection to our group and we are thrilled to have been able to help”.

Neurosurgery Kids Fund – Camp Everest

The Neurosurgery Kids fund at the Stollery Children’s Hospital is a charitable organization that’s primary focus is to enrich the lives of children who have undergone brain or spinal cord surgery at The Stollery Children’s Hospital and support their families.

We are so incredibly grateful every year to be chosen as a charity for the Liberty Classic, the funds raised help us make Camp Everest possible. We get to help make some magical memories for Neuro Stollery kids with critical illnesses. Many of these kids have medical needs that don't allow them to be part of other summer camps. With the help of people like Liberty, we’re able to put on a camp that is safe for critically ill children to experience a weekend of fun and kind of normalcy and to make friends and memories that will last for them and their families.

Special thanks to the companies that made it possible:
