After its price increase to over $2.50 a pound, copper theft has been on the rise in Alberta. Thieves steal copper from homes and businesses and sell it as scrap for recycling, causing property damage from cables being ripped out of buildings, generators, and the ground.
At 92 years of age, Nancy still lives independently in her home in a small Alberta town (80 km from the closest city). She spends everyday tending to her garden and yard. In the midst of citywide renovations across the Edmonton Public Libraries, officials recognized the need for an updated security and automation system. The outdated systems were no longer meeting their needs, especially with the extensive renovations that were taking place.
